On 22nd May, 2022, the Department of Geography, Mangaldai College celebrated the World Biodiversity Day in an online mode (Google Meet). Ms. Barsha Rani Das, Assistant Professor, Department of Geography, Sibsagar Girls College was the resource person in the event and presented on the topic “Biodiversity: Significance, Threats and Conservation”. All the faculty members of the Department of Geography along with students have participated in the event. Total participants in the event were 80. Department of Botany also observed the World Biodiversity Day on 23rd May at the department with a lecture by Dr. DebashreeKakati, Asst. Professor, Dept. of Botany who highlighted the role of biotechnology in the biodiversity conservation. She explained how cutting-edge technology and advance research could help in bioremediation and recovering environmental population.
