The Department of Economics is one of the founding departments of Mangaldai College. Since its inception in 1951 the Department ranks admirably among the departments of the college. The Department offers major course in economics in the undergraduate level. The Department has the strength of four faculty members with a good combination of teaching experience. Along with academic programme the Department also promotes co-curricular activities and offers extension services. Seminars and lectures with prominent personalities are organized by the department for the benefit of the students. The Department is proud to have students who have excelled in different fields. The faculty members of the department, in addition to teaching, have been actively associated with functioning of the college in various capacities. The vision of the department is to emerge as the leading centre of teaching and spread economic literacy.
