The Department of Mathematics, Mangaldai College was established in 1965 with the mission of developing the human resources of Darrang district scientifically. The subject Mathematics was introduced in the degree course from the session 1968-69. The major course in Mathematics was introduced from the session 1988-89. The department shares the vision of the college of achieving excellence in teaching in order to make it as one of the premier departments of the college and it will always strive to succeed in this endeavor. The department have three major classroom, one computer laboratory cum smart classroom and a small departmental library. 

The Departmental Library of Mathematics, Mangaldai College was opened from the session 2003-04 with 80 numbers of books. Students and faculties of the department are entitled to make use of the library facilities. Now, there are more than 100 books available in the library.

The departmental computer laboratory has installed with 10 computers along with MATLAB and C+ software from 2022-23.
