A survey was conducted by the Department of Economics, Mangaldai College in January, 2023
to know status of socio-economic aspects of people living in Kuiyapani village, Pachim
Mangaldai Bolck, Mangaldai, Darrang, Assam. The survey was done by the third semester
students of Economics Department as a part of partial fulfilment of Skill Enhancement Course,
namely, ‘Data Collection and Presentation’. During the 1st week of January, 2023, Students
visited different households of the village and collected data under the guidance and
supervision of Dr Santosh Borkakati, HoD, Economics, Mangaldai College and Umesh Ch.
Sarmah, Assistant Professor in Economics, Mangaldai College. Around 18 students have
participated in the data collection process with a schedule and at the end they have successfully
compiled the data and submitted it to the department.

A certificate course on Entrepreneurship was provided by the Department of Economics in collaboration with
Institutional Innovation Council, Mangaldai College. This course was inaugurated on 11th November, 2022 by
Dr. Kamala Kanta Borah, Principal, Mangaldai college in the presence of Convenor, IIC; Coordinator, IQAC;
Course committee and other faculty members of the college. Bijay Krishna Talukdar (MBA), who has a vast
experience on industry management, was the resource person for this course. Dr. Hemanta Chakravarty and
Dr. Dhiren Deka, Faculty members of Mangaldai Commerce College, were also invited as guest lecturers who
had provided valuable insights on entrepreneurship to the students. Moreover, the students were also provided
video tutorials available on NPTEL. At the end of this course, students prepared and submitted a business plan.
This course which was successfully completed by 50 students came to an end in April, 2023.

Department of Economics, Mangaldai College organised a four days coaching programme for CUET(PG) &
other entrance examinations from 6th March to 9th March, 2024 using both online and offline platforms. The
program was conducted by Miss Dreamly Sarmah, Assistant Professor of Economics Department, Mangaldai
College as programme coordinator.
Dr. Santosh Borkakati, HOD Economics, Mangaldai College inaugurated the programme on 6th March, 2023
at 11 AM. The programme was participated by as many as 26 nos. of students from BA 6th semester.
The following were the Resource Person of the programme:

The topics discussed in the programme by the resource persons were from diverse fields of economics such
as Indian Economy, Development Economics, Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Environmental
Economics, International Economics and so on. Study materials were shared by the resource persons after
the end of each session. Various quarries of the students were addressed by the resource persons and the
programme came to a successful end with the active participation of students.
